You Get The Last Word

the world shall turn
as it always did
no more hurt
let’s try to live
as if we’d never met
as if we’d never known
that love grows
in the garden of the unknown

you can’t afford me
what more can you say?
I still feel cheap
how can I stay?

you get the last words
but only for now
if you ever need to run
I’m your out
for you to find
I’m your crumbling mountain
for you to climb

I don’t want to know you
if demand is my ticket
in dreams I shall hold you
when I sleep in the moonlight

forever yours
always mine

to forget all our wasted times
I sing a sad soft lullaby
this is how I feel in my lonely deaths
we live these lives of failed regrets

distance was the knife
that I always feared would get us
yet I am eager to prove
that there is no destruction
of the things that truly last
